What's A Private Yoga Therapy Session Like?
A sessions begins by noticing where you feel your breath the most: Sensation at nostrils, ribs and rising belly/chest or expanding ribs? Perhaps the sound of your breath? Whatever it is for you, this is your home base, your cornerstone to the present.
I'll guide you through a body scan. Then you'll check in to what thoughts are present, then check in to see if any feelings and/or emotions are present.
Next you'll reflect on what matters to you or perhaps set an intention for your session. Or not.
I will guide and/or assist you in different stretches/yoga poses and remind you to notice what is happening. You can speak about it, or not.
When you become aware that your mind is "time traveling" to the past or the future, you note what happened:
Was it thinking, planning…or maybe a physical sensation? Noting what it was, you return to your breath, your home base. It's a continuous gentle dance of realizing your mind is elsewhere. Most importantly, when you realize your mind is on "another channel", you return to your breath, to the present, with gentle, loving kindness.
At the end of the session, should you choose to, you can talk about what stood out or perhaps you'd prefer to write it down.
